March 2019 - A new paper out in Microbial Ecology, which Dr. Young coauthored, explores the drivers of variation in microbial communities on western gulls across their California range, including from the local Channel Island gull community.

Michelle Lee received a Coastal Fund grant to further last year's project with undergraduate, Megan Oza.

February 2019 - Dr. Young worked with visiting Pakistani scholar Dr. Noreen Khalid to understand effects of road proximity on heavy metal accumulation in plant communities here in California. The paper was published in Environmental Science and Pollution Research.
